Happy new year guys, I hope this year is better than last. When you do most of your stock building outside, you have to work around the winter weather. I finally had a chance to get started of another stock. This is gonna be a walnut thumbhole.

Today I got the pillar installed and bedded the area between the rear of the receiver and trigger group. After I cut the thumbhole and shaped the buttstock, you can get an idea of how it's gonna look. Here's a few more pictures of my progress, so far.

I got out for a little while this afternoon. This is the first time I've seen the sun in a week. I didn't get a lot done, but I did get a piece of maple glued to the grip.

I’m getting ready to start the most exciting part of the build. The fun part of my stock making, is the shaping. I kinda have an idea, in my head, what the stock is gonna look like, but that doesn’t always happen. Let’s hope this will turn out to be a keeper.

I got a chance to do some shaping on the stock. The thumbhole will need a lot more work, before it starts feeling like it's supposed to. This stock will also get finger groves to help with the grip.

Here's a few more pictures. I think I'm through sanding, except for the barrel channel, I seemed a little snug at the end of the forearm.

Here's a couple pictures, with a scope attached. You can see through the scope ok, but the mount needs to be a little higher. The scope is just about touching the barrel.
