I reached the goal of 52,000 yesterday,,,

I reached the goal of 52,000 yesterday,,,
My strategy of simply visiting Wal Mart often has paid off.

I was very productive last Saturday so I decided to treat myself,,,
Go into town for a nice Mexican dinner and some beer.

Wal Mart is directly on the way so I popped in for a "just in case" visit,,,
Lo and behold there were eight 550 round Federal bulk packs,,,
Just sitting there waiting for me to take them home.

I did not take all eight of them though,,,
I only bought six to reach goal.

Actually I only needed five bulk packs,,,
But I prefer even numbers.

I tried calling my friend to see if he wanted me to pick up the last two for him,,,
He never answered so I left two packs for someone else to buy.

He called me while I was drinking my beer and said he wanted them,,,
I stopped by after a few hours but they were already gone.

So now my .22 LR stash is 53,129 rounds full.

That's 100 rounds per week for ten years,,,
I am officially ammoed-up.

I can now stand down from hunt-n-seek-n-buy mode,,,
And relax into replace what I shoot mode.

Nah,,,
I think I'm good to go now.

As long as I can replace what I shoot in a reasonable time,,,
I'll be a happy camper with this amount.

One thing I didn't notice right away,,,

One thing I didn't notice right away,,,
They have raised their ammo prices slightly.

When I purchased the 550 Federal packs a week and a half ago,,,
They were $19.95

The 550 Federal packs I purchased Saturday were $21.56,,,
They went from 3.62 cents/round to 3.92 cents/round.

CCI SV was $3.49/50,,,
Now they are $3.67/50.

Not a huge increase in price,,,
But somewhat of a bummer none-the-less.

Bummer,,,

" Age has caught up with me and I no longer can walk back and forth on the range due to leg and back issues."

Isn't that what God made grand-kids and spotting scopes for?

But seriously,,,
That's sad news to read.

Meanwhile, hundreds of shooters, and their kids, and their grandkids get to do without. Good job hoarding.

So how many bricks of the Action from Killough did you buy your kiddies today??? You knew, like we all did, that they were going to be in stock early this morning.

Now you need 20 cases to keep the grand children shooting as well. They have at least 20 years of shooting.

I'm not hoarding,,,
I'm stocking up for my retirement.

Besides, you have no idea how many people I have subsidized with my stash.

Tens of thousands of rounds, I understand.
But I have friends that have 3 to 4 hundred rounds and they think that is a lot.

<obvious comment>

It all depends on how often they shoot,,,
And how many rounds per session.

</Obvious Comment>

My Pop wasn't a recreational shooter at all,,,
Pest control was all he ever did.

Way back in the early 70's,,,
Some ammo company marketed a Father's Day brick of 500 rounds.

My younger brother bought one for my dad as a gift.

When Pop passed away in 2014 we found that brick in his closet,,,
It still had a few rounds in the one opened box,,,
Less than 50 rounds in about 40 years.

I have a buddy who still thinks he can stop for ammo at Wal Mart,,,
On the way to the range.

He doesn't get out very much.

I popped in to Wal Mart this morning,,,

I popped in to Wal Mart this morning,,,
They had eight 50 round boxes of CCI SV,,,
And two 550 round bulk packs of Federal HV.

I don't really need them but since I was there I snagged them,,,
I had them sold (for actual cost) before I left the parking lot.

I'll need to wait until one friends payday,,,
But I'm a single man with no pressing money needs.

I can easily wait for my friends payday.
