Eley STD or Eley Action

I recently picked up 3 bricks of Eley STD when I visited the CMP store. Seeing recent commentary about Eley Action, I am looking for data from someone who has shot both to get more info. I shoot mostly suppressed but have a few that are not threaded for suppressors. Not having shot Eley of any type before, I am deferring to those that have in order to get better data. I may just get 3 bricks of the action just to see...but if one is considered better than the other I may go for 5 bricks or more.

I guess I need to qualify this. I am speaking of the Eley CMP Standard Velocity that is apparently only available via the CMP stores...

This was also asked when the new batches of Action were released earlier this year. I think if you look back on the Eley Action thread you'll see posts where the two were compared. If I recall correctly many found the new heavier 42gn performed the same as or slightly better than the 40gn STD. Obviously the rule YMMV definitely applies here.

Hmmm, sounds like it is worthy to pick up a case from CMP since it appears most everyone else is out of Action. Killoughs is only a 3 hour drive, but too much is out of stock.

I bit the bullet and ordered a case from CMP to add to the 3 bricks I already have....

The 40gr Eley Action that some of us bought cheap in the late spring, was product code 3117-xxxx (where xxxx is the machine and production date code).

If the CMP is 3117 product code, you should have some very fine shooting ammunition.

The three boxes I picked up in the CMP store a couple of weeks ago are 3117 40gr. I hope the case is of the same.
