Do you carry a spare magazine?
For your CCW, do you carry a spare , loaded magazine or a speed loader? I used to, but nou it just sits in a ziplock in the console.

I carry 2 spare mags in a double mag pouch on my belt right behind my holster. Unfortunately living in MA we are restricted to 10 rnd mags. I mostly carry my S&W Shield Performance Center 9mm with an 8 rnd mag +1 in the chamber and 2 spare 8 rounders.

Yes. If I’m going farther than 100 miles, I carry 2 extras.

My reason for concealed carry was that I never wanted to be in a position to wish I was carrying. My reason for an extra mag is the same, never wanted to be in a position to have a locked back slide and still be in a fight.

Yup. But it usually is stored in the glove compartment. My CCW holds 12 rounds in a double stack. If I need more than 12+1 I'm in BIG trouble.

Would it not be wise to carry at least one reload? 5 or 6 rounds goes out in a hurry.

All situationally and seasonally dependent. On the water or in a remote spot from late march till October, open carry a 375 Ruger then.
Formal attire or church cloths usually no in an ankle holster, big enough guy that I carry a full size or pocket carry a 380. If were out and about with a coat, its full size with 2x spare mags. Extra mags are more for some kind of malfunction than fire power needed ala Clint smith wisdom.
Perk of living in a colder climate and being my size, some days I can carry an x frame and not print..... The downside is finding shoes that fit, bikes that I cant break, cross country skis that can float me and sitting in airplanes.

Not usually one on me unless I’m out woods bumming or something, but I do keep a spare mag in the center console of the truck.

Nope. The mag in my EDC contains more rounds than 99.7% of all civilian shooting encounters, according to the FBI. Of course, lately they have been known to lie, but I don't think they lie about the shooting statistics.
I am not going to war, and my primary mission if caught in a shooting incident is to extricate myself, not win a battle. My mindframe is much different than Gerald's, since he was a professional problem solver for most of his adult life. I can see exactly where he is coming from, and more power to him.
Now, if the situation changes, as in the collapse of the financial system or civil war, that's different. Also, if I choose to carry a compact single stack, such as the Kimber Ultra Carry, I would pack an extra magazine.

When carrying a single stack yes, goes in my left back pocket with my handkerchief to keep it upright.
