I AM NOT ASSOCIATED IN ANY WAY WITH THIS RIFLE (DARNIT!

There is a beautiful rifle (with about an hour to go) on auction at Gunbroker. Last chance coming up to spend a little of your son's college money....

Went from $1225 to $2325 in the last hour and a half of bidding. IMHO, a ridiculous price. There is one (with much plainer wood, but similar shape, less the $50 scope) available right now on the RFC TP for just over $700. $10O0.00 would buy you a beautiful top grade custom stock (original profile) from several stock makers - wood that would put that one to shame.

Yep OS, you got to wonder when reality will set in with the person who paid that for even a very nice FS. I purchased a Custom stocked Anschutz 1702 (Leroy Berry, Canyon Creek stocked at that) for less than that. But you want what you want.

How many years ago? I checked with them on making me a stock and it was going to cost $2400 plus me buying the stock.

Speaking of a 452FS and Canyon Creek, here's mine (and the stock alone went for more than that GB item, but I'm OK with that ).

Just a couple of months ago, I purchased it used right from the RFC classifieds...

Many folks look at it as art.., and I'm OK with that. Can get very expensive.., but hanging an original O'Keefe (or any other known artist) on the wall is also. We all have our motives for buying and paying...

Iím definitely just as moved by a beautiful piece of finished wood, as I generally would be by any painting. Actually, most often more so.
