452 Price Check (+ Purchase)

Log in to see fewer ads
Hello all,

Was going to message Signalman directly then decided to put it out there for all.

I have yet another opportunity to expand my CZ rimfire family. I've been "out of the buying loop" for a good while and, after looking on GB and similar sites, I'm still not quite sure what fair means anymore for these rifles.

CZ 452 American .22LR, well cared for, shot but not shot out, nice wood but not gorgeous. Didn't have phone so no pics atm.

Ball park #?

Thank you

Fair to me would be about $400. While not an American, I’ve bought a couple 452 rifles in .22lr within the last year. A Lux and a FS, both purchased locally in Oregon. One from a dealer, one private party. IIRC, I paid $350 for the Lux, and $400 for the FS. Both were in nice condition. Lucked out with the Lux, as it also included a NIB 10 round CZ magazine along with the standard 5 round. As I already had several 10 round mags, and they have been in short supply lately, figured I would offer it up on EBay and see what it would fetch. Ended up reducing my cost basis into the Lux nicely.

Sold a real nice, like new 452 American .22LR for about that price as well, but it was several years ago. I suspect it would bring more now, especially if offered in a nationwide market, but that would be more than a “fair” price for me if I were buying.

I would give $500 myself and I don’t need one as I have two (one NIB) already. For $500 it wouldn’t last overnight on the rack of a local LGS. It would likely go for more on GB.

"fair".

thats when you want to buy something.

but as been pointed out, what you maybe able to get locally and what you can get off teh web will be 2 different things.

Note that when things are all rosy and 452s were like falling in your lap, then prices were "fair" overall.

but when things get scarce all bets are off.

Consider this.

> buy once, cry once.

> it applies when you dont have alot (whats that) of money to buy what you want and it applies to when things are scarce.

> if you can find any on the web, look at the price. Im sure you wont think its "fair" for what they go for, but you have a target to shoot for if you can find one locally.

good luck

Fynn sir the bottom line is how much do you want to spend on one...for me the look of it and how nice the wood on it would determine how much I would pay for one. The other part of the equation would be what are you going to use it for...if your just looking for a working rifle then the price would not be too high on the other hand if this was going to be one to hand down or a lotto winner then the sky is the limit.

The seller probably has an idea of what he wants for it...if it is within 50 dollars of what you want to spend for one then spend the extra fifty. Lately CZs are going for crazy prices...which I would not pay.

I hope you have better luck that I do every time I went looking for any rifle I could never fine one I wanted to buy so I went to plan "B" and just as soon as I bought the other rifle the one I was looking for popped up. My other experience was after waiting for years to fine the one I wanted they came out of the wood work.

Like my CZ 452 American Deluxe in 22mag it took over three years of looking and thousands of miles, in different states even all the way to Ohio visiting Jeff Miller and his gun shops, traveling into Tennessee and back to the west coast. I took real money with me to buy one and it was about two weeks after I got home that this one from Fyrepowrx came up for sale. In less than a month I had to buy another one because my fancy one was just too nice to take out beating through the brush.

Both rifles are set up the same way: 22mags with V-16s on top.

If you get some pictures to send my way I will give you my opinion of what I would pay for that one. Sorry I am not much help with your answer...your the one who needs to be happy and it's your money not mine we are talking about spending. I am here if you need me.

I'm more around the $600 mark. That doesn't mean that's what I would pay, just what I think is currently a fair price for both parties. If I were in the market for one I wouldn't be afraid to go a little higher, especially if it had decent wood. Heck, I just paid $54 for a new 5 round steel CZ mag in 17HMR.

On GB they can bring anywhere from low $400s (typically with bad photos or some scrapes and scratches to get that low) to over $1000. It depends upon who sees it and wants it, how good the photos are, and especially how good the wood is.

Not an American, but a 452 Varmint just sold for the highest I recall seeing one of those go for, $1025 plus shipping. https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/900606736

500 to 700 for a used fair condition sounds about right. For one in fine condition add several hundred more. For fine condition with exceptional wood.., well, if more than one person wants it then the sky's the limit.
