N-1, where N equals the ideal number of rimfires. The thing is, it's always N-1, no matter how many you have.

In my head I can come up with 15, but there might be more if I rummage the safes.

five

I currently have 5:

A cheap, light weight Savage 64F rifle for training women and kids how to shoot, and as a loaner for newbies to try an Appleseed shoot or some other rimfire match.

A Ruger 10/22 configured as a CQB carbine, with a red dot optic and an M4 style collapsing stock. Just for smiles and grins.

A Ruger 10/22 match rifle, with a 2.5 lb. tuned trigger, a 22" barrel (threaded for my suppressor / silencer), and usually wearing aperture sights front and rear, although sometimes I stick a 4x-12x scope on it instead. It's in a heavy composite stock, a Fajen "Legacy" adjustable model.

A S&W model 34 Kit gun, a nice slim J-frame .22 revolver with a 4" barrel and adjustable sights. Good for training new people how to shoot revolvers. I myself don't shoot wheelguns much anymore; I mostly use semi-autos.

A Browning BuckMark-- my general go-to rimfire pistol for everything. It's my target practice gun for open sighted shooting. I've had the muzzle threaded and it's my suppressor host. It's big, but not heavy, so I can use it for training new shooters. I just like plinking with it. It's got a good factory trigger; one of the only guns I've been satisfied with out of the box.

(WAIT, ACTUALLY I have one more. So make that "6" total. A High Standard DM-101 derringer in .22 magnum. I stopped carrying this when KelTec invented the P32 pistol, which is the same size and weight but holds much more ammo of a more potent caliber. And when KelTech came out with the P3AT, I switched over to THAT. So, I've got no use for a 2-shot .22 WMR derringer anymore. (But the gun has no value to collectors, being all dinged up from 15 years of daily carry).
