Empty your mailbox. It is full so I can’t respond to you.

Cold where you are no doubt. Cold here too just not that cold.

TOday’s hunt.
Bagged 4 grays.
2 males and 2 females.

None of these even close to long shots. Farthest was approx 60 yards. Last squirrel I shot out. With Nexus scope dialed to 12 x that squirrel’s eyeball plainest with parallax at 60. So didn’t laser.

Saw and heard some more squirrels too.

Brings career harvest to 51,601.
Season total to 281.

Had a blast.

Today’s hunt.
Bagged 2.
Both young females.

Fired 5 times.
Shot at one gray squirrel at lasered 157 yards.
Don’t think I connected very well if at all. Squirrel acted funny though when rifle went off.
Shot another at 66 yards out of same beech and it fell out after delayed fall. Didn’t find. I figured he might be a problem finding. Some obstruction (slight) in front of head.

Saw quite a few more squirrels. Hard to get them in camera. Running around sporadically everywhere.

Brings career harvest to 51,603.
Season total to 283.

Got a 60 acre farm to hunt. I have hunted round it but never on. Should have squirrels. I have more places to hunt than I have time to hunt.
I vary my style of hunting with hm2. Sometimes sit, sometimes walks. Little of both.
Tomorrow should be a real good day to hunt. Banner day actually. Young squirrels should be out in force. Cold weather lies ahead.

Have found a way to carry short tripod trigger stick. Wrapped para cord around so I can carry around my neck and shoulder.
Getting ready to go shortly. Itís 5:35 am.
Might be an all dayer.
Broke out the medium sized Nikon binoculars.
Should be some good hunting today.
Cleaned hm2 barrel last night.
Need to fired 5 times this morning before I depart to season barrel.
Wind today should be manageable.
Hopefully can show some squirrels in the camera.
Will have laser along too to give some distances.

Had 21 minutes of video.
Did some editing. Did show most of the squirrels before plugging them.
Little tough to use hand held camera and zoom in on squirrels then shoot them. And laser some of them too. Keeps me busy in the woods.
Folks should try and see how easy or hard it is to do.

Didn’t see but about 16 squirrels total today.
Nice conditions overall really for time of year.

Cheers.
May go a bit late tomorrow.
May try to get a longer hunt in on early Saturday before the big snow hits here.

Got out this morning for a short time.
Saw one fox squirrel.
He’s in video.
Squirrel repositioned himself and all I could see is is head. So I aimed at head holding off 1 moa. Not enough.

I held 1 moa off for crosswind. Should have held closer to to 2 moa off.
Squirrel ran down tree and disappeared. Odds are he entered hole from above on tree.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ufHAq6sftfQ

When I got home.
Had similar crosswind coming from other direction to target. I didn’t measure with wind meter.
Put up this 2 inch dot at 61 yards.
Held top dead center.
First 2 shots wind was rolling. Note right impact.
Wind settled down on 3 rd shot. Almost perfect.

First target I have shot at with this rig in quite a while.
Nothing wrong with zero on this baby.
Gotta respect the wind though.
And maybe let squirrel orientation be your driver for a shoot or no shoot in higher wind.
Squirrels up and down on trees not best choice.
Better to be sprawled out horizontally.
