Cleaning Contender Barrels

All the gurus advocate the use of bore guides when cleaning rifles but obviously cannot use a conventional bore guide for a Contender barrel. Are there alternative products? Or just extreme care with a short bore rod?

There are some bore guides for the Contender and Encore. Sinclair has them.
