Hey. I have the 597 heavy barrel, and I hear the standard barrel is
just as accurate. I also have a laminated stock. I have the wrong scope on it though. I put on one of my Nikon 3-9x40 on it. I tried sighting it on at 50 yards, but had lots of problems. I have heard that I need an adjustable
objective for it. My scope is set for 100 yards, so shooting at 50 yards
just doesn't work. I have this good advice and didn't know this.
I'm a big Nikon fan, so thinking a Nikon Buckmaster at 3-9x40 would
work great, ( not ) . I have learned new everyday day. I have that
Simmons 6.5-20x40 on my .17, and really like it. I hope to pass
this on about the parallax thing.
