Final aggregate scores...

Standard rifle: 85/120 (5th place AAA)
Hunter rifle: 85/120 (4th place AAA)

I'm really happy with my overall performance and that all my scores (except one of the practice scores) were above my running 10-score average.

On the last Hunter match there were five people that shot a 29 in AAA-class. Boy, was I happy that I didn't have to be in that shoot-off because I was in two shoot-offs on the previous days and missed both times, so I could have easily ended up in 6th place instead of 1st. Also happy with getting TIAR on Rams on day #2 as I needed that towards a Grand Slam. Now I only need Turkeys (gulp!).

I had a great time at the nationals and Ridgway puts on a first-class event. I'm really glad I went and will be looking forward to next year's Nationals in Raton.

Back to a bit of normal... our monthly club match.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~24X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 8-10-19

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 5
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 27

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

I was a little worried that I had given up all my good shots at Nationals but I guess I'm shooting above mid-20's on a regular basis now.

Our usual match director had some family stuff so he asked me to run the match. Between registration/score keeping, making sure lunch was provided, and calling the matches I was happy that my scores didn't suffer.

yes, and I succeeded in downloading the score card, but it would not open. asked if I wanted to search the web for the proper format.

also the NRA target option will open, but I can't find the exact address, as shown - it seems they have revamped it quite a bit

Ah, the linked attachments. My guess is the links haven't been updated for some time and are no longer valid.

You don't need an "official" scorecard to post scores here, just keep some notes. If you need versions of the paper targets they can be found HERE as well as other places around the web.

Let me know if you need any other help.

Don't worry about embarrassing yourself. This game is about self improvement.

I cannot compete with AC, and I am not trying too. His skill set is higher than mine.

I am simply trying to do better than the last match.

Sure, everybody wants to have high score for the "win", but if you shot this months score higher than last months.......you have won.

I am not concerned how the next guy shot, I am only concerned how I shot.

This game is really about becoming a better shooter in the field.

MATCH #1
DIVISION: Hunter
SHOOTER CLASS: AA
FIREARM: CZ 452 Silhouette
AMMO: CCI SV
OPTIC: Weaver V-24
TARGETS: NRA 1/5 Steel Spinners

CHICKENS.......4

PIGS...............8

TURKEYS..........3

RAMS...............8

TOTAL............23

This is a very good score for me!! I wish I could get in the groove from the start. Chickens were not kind to me.

Maybe I should shoot a few warmups before I start.

Finishing w/8 Rams made my day!! Wind was about 10 MPH from 9:00.

Another go today.

MATCH #1
DIVISION: HUNTER
SHOOTER CLASS: AA
FIREARM: CZ 452 SUPER BRNO SAA 2500
OPTIC WEAVER V-24
AMMO:CCI AR-TACS
TARGETS:NRA1/5 STEEL SPNNERS

CHICKENS.......7

PIGS...............7

TURKEYS..........5

RAMS...............7 (5 in a row)

TOTAL.............26

MY #2 high score. I put the V-24 on this gun to do some ammo testing, and I figured since the gun is scoped, I may as well shoot the stupid chickens with it.

I did a 10 rd. warm-up on the chickens to try to get in the groove, then started on pigs. Didn't seem right to start on chicks after I had just shot at them.

The wind today was a steady 10 mph from 9:00.

The wobble is noticeably less with this gun. It has a 28" barrel.

This was a practice rd. The 23 from my previous post is my official score.

Regularly scheduled club match on the south side of town. There was a 50-60% chance of rain and only five of us showed up, so we decided to shoot 60-shot matches instead of the usual 40-shots. I've added the 40-shot conversion for the totals.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~30X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 8-24-19

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 11
Turkeys - 11
Rams - 9
TOTAL - 40 (26.6/40)

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 10
Pigs - 14
Turkeys - 11
Rams - 11
TOTAL - 46 (30.6/40)

On the second match Pigs I got 10 in a row between the second and third bank. The one that I missed on the first bank was by putting the shot in hole between the legs. (Dang it!)

Even though only five people showed up it was a good match because it wasn't ridiculously hot (mid 80's), not much wind, and it was nice and overcast, so no hard shadows or glaring. Plus, we didn't get a drop of rain at all.

greetings,

made it out today, and the results were mixed to say the least
class 2 benchrest
Ruger 10/22, old enough to have a walnut stock
CCI mini mag HP ammo
Simmons 4 ~ 12 prohunter scope - set on 8X
Hornady delta rest under fore end, no support in rear
about 72 deg, with 10 ~ 15 MPH wind from behind
overcast - no sun at all

I'm including pics, so you can confirm, or reject, some of my calls
I felt if I got half a bullet on target, it would fall
I marked yes or no on the paper

I could not settle down while shooting slowly, so scored zero chickens

got six pigs shooting fast, so stayed with that tactic the rest of the match

managed four turkeys

slipped downhill and only managed three rams

yep, ran hot and cold all day, but had fun and didn't hurt myself, so it was a good day :bthumb:
