As much as I love the .22, I have grave reservations for a small semi auto for a possible self defense role. A gun that I'm staking my life on that its going to function perfectly. So far in a life of over 50 years of hand gunning, I ha vent had one. That includes Browning, Ruger mk series, Smith and Wesson escort, Jennings .22, Beretta 21, Walther PP in .22. All had a failures of some sort once in a while like feed or eject or a dud bringing the whole thing to a stop.

On the other hand, I've had and still have .22 revolvers from Smith and Wesson, Ruger, North American Arms, Colt, and Charter Arms. None has ever malfunctioned on me, in spite of having the ever lovin dog poo shot put of them. Even dud's are very rare, maybe because of the larger hammer drop? I don't know.

Maybe a good practice gun?

If a .22LR autoloader is good enough for the Israeli Mossad & their Sky Marshals, it's good enough for me. They used the Beretta Model 70.
It looks like the Ruger will be a good substitute with a much better trigger & higher round capacity.

Couldn't make it through the whole article. Does it mention the ammo they use. All the domestic ammo I've used has had duds.

The author mentions Federal 36gr, forget that..........

BTW, Walther P-38 in 80 years !00%

edit to add: The article put a lot of emphasis on that one episode. Did they say the surviving terrorist got 12 years? That doesn't seem right.

Would not be surprised to read an article in 5 years saying they used this up until..............happened. Now carry centerfire.

I could be wrong, but I think I remember reading the Israeli Sky Marshals stopped carrying 22lr when frangible ammo became available. But again, could be wrong.

If anyone buys one of these little shooters the Veridian Reactor Series laser/holster combo is fantastic (and cheap in the Refurb selection) .. as is the Hogue pull on grip sleeve...
Here is my 380.. all dressed up...

I'll be waiting six months or so to see if the reports of light strikes calm down.
