Steyr Zephyr 2 oddball rail

Why would a rifle maker import a rifle for the American Market with a dovetail size that is “ just wrong “ ? Most .22 rifles made for use in ‘Merica today use either an 11mm or a 3/8 dovetail. Leave it to Steyr to have the rail an oddball size. I think I saw somewhere the rail measured 11.3mm. I pulled the old digital calipers out, and I am unsure of the quality or accuracy of them, but my dovetail measures across the top at 11.62mm. I have not been happy with the way any ring I have tried works on this factory dovetail. Why import an oddball, but not import rings to fit the oddball ?

I like Talley and Warne rings, but lining the crosshairs up, setting the eye relief, and keeping all aligned is hard for this old relic of a shooter. Well, I will just have to learn to live with a scope not centered on the receiver until my son gets a chance to come in and redo them………The Talley set will actually center the scope on the rail. Just a pet peeve vented…………..anybody got an easy way to get these all lined up? It’s made me crosseyed…..

19.7 is the norm. How did you stretch that barrel ?
