Got a 52R from a friend last week.Got to shoot several groups last weekend.
Pretty impressed with the fit and function other than the bolt throw, but not much of a problem
just higher rings. The barrel screw was removed before shooting. No problem staying around half
inch at 50 with sk standard. The last group my son in law was standing behind the bench looking
with binoculars and he said dang can you find another one! The group was .23.I am glad he didnt
say CAN I HAVE IT!

I saw Senneca shoot it before ( the one that owned it) and shoot well but cold bore seems alot
better without it.Still groups about the same.

Nice rifle!

One of the first thing I did back in '93 was have the local smith re-shape it, to be able to use lower rings.

Yeah, I know, it probably killed collector value... but to be honest, the better cheek-weld and pleasure to shoot it, far outweigh the lost of value $ my estate will incur should they decide not to keep it

This is why no barrel tension screw.A lot better groups and not as much cold bore fliers. Both groups shot back to back. First group was wolf match extra and probably .39 range and second was SK match rifle in the .20 range.Didnt mic the but will be close. Some 52 R s may shoot better with the tension screw just mine does better
Without it
