Hey folks,

Just noticed that one of the 34 is double stamped. Mod 34 and Mod 51

Was that a common practice?
Serial is M64xxx

Thanks,
Mike

What I see in the mod 34 stamping has a period after the MOD instead of the dash as seen in the mod 51 stamping. I don't remember seeing a period before. I wonder if it was a mod 51 and was converted to a model 34. The mod 34 stamping looks factory, but.............

I bet if you post this at the smithandwessonforum.com someone there would have the answer.

Thanks, I'm curious... But not sure if I'm curious enough to create yet another account to yet another forum. I'll see how bored I am this weekend

Cheers!

Not so common but it did happen, as did actual mistakes in stamping info there. Just a frame that was initially meant to be a 51, and then sent on to to built as a 34-the model in greater demand. Smith didn't let anything go to waste.
A value detractor in my opinion.

ps: I'm a former long term member of the SW forum.
