M4-22 rifle - using a cleaning rod to clean barrel?

Log in to see fewer ads
i got a new Tippmann Arms M4-22 rifle and attempted to clean the barrel.
i used another long cleaning rod i used to clean another rifle, but when pushing
the cleaning rod down the M4-22 barrel it feels awfully tight, in fact it seems
to feels some scrapping.
Anyone else uses a cleaning rod for this rifle?
What brand of the rod do you use? do you feel scrapping down the barrel?

To be honest unless accuracy is dropping off, and I need to clean leaded rifling, I just use a bore snake and ballistol. Much less abusive to the breach than a cleaning rod. When I do use a rod, I use a carbon fiber rod, a brass brush, and lead remover. This goes for all my 22’s. As far as I know, there is no bore guide for the Tippmann.

The rubbing is from the ejector. It sits in the path when cleaning from the rear. 15-22s are the same way.

I will usually use a bore snake in between range sessions and it has worked out well. At 5000 rounds I will use a .17cal size rod from shooters choice with 22cal centerfire brush for a deeper cleaning.

Iím a plus one for the bore snake. Does a great job for me. I run it through a couple of times. Barrel always looks good.

Bore snake and Ballistol work best,
You just have to clean it right after each range..
