Feddersen 18 contour barrel expectations

I have a nice walnut stocked 10/22 with a reworked barrel. I like the look of a factory taper barrel in a conventional stock. I have shot it some, but I have never really given it the best chance to perform. I'll put my Kidd trigger in, mount a high power scope and take my best ammo to the indoor range this week. If I am not happy with the groups that I get, I'm considering buying a Feddersen 18" factory contour barrel. So, I'm asking the members that have this barrel to let me know what size groups are realistic. I am confident that my reworked barrel will group .5" or better at 50 yards. It shot just a hair over that with a 2 1/2 lb trigger, a 3x scope and Midas ammo. SK plus was more like 3/4". Thanks in advance.

0.3" to 0.4" @ 50 with good ammo. Feddersen tapered 18" barrel, Kidd receiver, Kidd bolt, and a Kidd single stage trigger. Scope is a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9X33 EFR.

Many thanks!

Mike, That is exactly the information I was looking for. And yes, that is a beautiful rifle. Although mine is not as fancy as yours, it has the same overall appearance. Thanks again.

In my opinion and experience Feddersen makes the best barrels. They are the best kept secret in the industry. Let's keep it that way so they don't jack up their prices

I have a similar style sporter. 2x7 Vortex, bx trigger, and 18" Shaw sporter taper barrel. I did the break in shots. When the weather breaks I will continue to get it where I want. However, the groups so far are very impressive.

Feddersen barrels are excellent IME. I've never owned one of their tapered barrels but they offer the same "satisfaction" guarantee on all their barrels. My .920 Feddersen barrels have shot 5 shot 50 yard groups in the .1's and are all pretty consistently under .5 with the right ammo and when I'm shooting good. I couldn't bring myself to say "If I do my part".

Thanks guys!

The shooting session today was disappointing. But there may be hope. I was getting vertical stringing and I suspect my bedding is at fault. I will hold off on the purchase of a new barrel as I need to solve this first. I did post under "anything 10-22" for help with this problem.

Really nice setup. Wondered what scope base you were using?

It's the one that comes with the Kidd receiver.
