My well loved and stunningly reliable 22/45 just started having failures to eject where the fired case would flip around and prevent the bolt from closing. I was like “what the heck??” but a close inspection of the bolt showed that the extractor had launched itself. I wandered around the range and actually found it. The bottom lobe had sheared off. Not bad for 15K plus rounds of hard use.

I’ll call Ruger tomorrow and see if they’ll send me a new one.

My MKIII had the hook break off a VQ extractor once. Scott replaced it with a new one for free. It's pretty rare, but sometimes extractors do break.

Here's a good candidate for a replacement.

I haven't broken one yet but that is an easy fix.
