Hello all,

This one from the same old crook. SN 154400. Originally a standard rifle and now has a Short Only barrel and a $15,000 price tag!! Pics on the WACA forum thread. https://winchestercollector.org/foru...own-ca/#p83259

What makes you consider it a fake?

Michael keeps meticulous records when it comes to serial numbers, calibers and configurations of the Model 61 and I think a few other models as well. Sounds to me like it originally came as a standard short, long, l.r. version per his research. Switched to a round barrel "Short Only" barrel, one of the rarest configurations in the Mod. 61 with only 1 yr. of production. If Michael says it's a fake.......it's a fake.

That is correct. The rifle was previously sold as a standard configuration rifle and now shows up with an octagon barrel Short only configuration. Here is a listing of Model 61 rifles identified as fakes via my research of more than 6000 individual Model 61's.
