I need help identifying a factory barrel.
I just bought a Ruger 10-22 18.5" blued take off barrel. When it arrived I was very disappointed. It has a finish that looks like it was rough machined and blued (maybe some other black finish). Is this what the new barrels look like? Or was this from some unusual run of rifles? Other wise I am happy with the purchase. The bore and chamber look good. It feels good when you pull a tight patch through it. I can send pictures to an email but not to this forum. Thanks for any help.

Source of barrel
The barrel came from a well known 10-22 aftermarket company. I did now know there was this much variation in blued barrels, so I just asked for one blue and one stainless. The stainless barrel looks great! Both barrels appear to be "new" take-offs. I do not feel comfortable asking for a refund.

I had a crinkle finished sporter , made in 2009, it had a barrel that had not been polished. You could see and feel the lathe turning ridges down the whole length. It was butt ugly, black dull finish, but it shot fine. I bought it in 2016, off the used rack at Cabelas, it wasnt used , just something they bought from a closeout/ clearance distributor. The stock was gorgeous, and the price was right, The barrel is gone, on a PIF, the receiver is on a field gun, and the stock is on this. So I guess the new old stock just surfaces from time to time.
If you paid $40 or less for it , its just a bad break. If you paid more, why not call and ask to return it. The worst that could happen is that they say no.

Does it look like this? Not the spiral, just the matte black finish. Had a hard time getting a good pic indoors but it's almost like a nitride AR barrel finish.

If you purchased it from an after market supplier, it is not Factory. Factory barrels will have Rutgers name stamped on them.
