August Bolthead Teams vs a few Clackers

Okay, I guess the subject line sounds a little biased. But we had 65 bolts vs 9 clackers this month. A very good turnout. Although we need to get a few more 1022's entered. I thought everybody who was anybody owned a clacker. (Course that leaves me out as I don't own one.)

As another point of interest we had by type of guns:
17 Anschutz
5 CZ
4 Remington
4 Sako
4 Winchester
4 Walther
3 Custom
3 Suhl
2 Martini

There was a lot of cut and pasting going on this month. Thanks to all the shooters who entered scores for 50yds. A super good turnout with lots of new people and a lot of good scores on the elusive "X".

I did some research from the 50 yd master scores that Joe had posted earlier. Sure enough you are listed twice. Looks like the difference was the ammo, looks like the same gun. Anyway when I am doing my sorting I throw out bab scores so a person doesn't go on twice. But I missed your double entry Kent as there wasn't a bab after the ammo. So like Tango Two said, you are such a nice guy we wanted to recognize that fact and give you a double dip.

Sorry, my fubar. I will try to get better at this sorting out thing.

By the way, those were some mighty nice scores. You wouldn't want to give me one of those would you?

Mike--
You can have the 243 score--actually it was tougher that the 245. The heat and humidity was so bad my rifle just wouldn't shoot the ammo it usually likes best that day, so I switched to Wolf Gold and shot the 243--then gave up! Now that the humidity has gone down and the weather's cooler, I think it'll do a little better. Thanks for all the nice comments guys. Mike, I wish I was in your neck of the woods trout fishing!

Speaking of trout fishing: I know it is not the same as fishing on a river but the wife and I went tubing and pooning for some rainbows in one of the lakes in town. They stock the city lakes with rainbows. Course some knuckle heads have also released some pike into the lakes which are feasting on the trout.

Biggest one I caught last night was 13". Kinda fun to be able to go to a lake a mile away and fish after work. Susan is using my old caddis U boat and I have an 8' outcast pontoon boat. I love my poon. So much faster to get around. I usually end up towing Susan if we have to travel far on the lake.

Mike

Thanks for the stats on actions. This kind of stuff is interesting. I assume the Rem number includes some 40Xís? I havenít really paid attention to what others are using. I guess I expected to see more custom actions. I think the Walther is an under-utilised action. I know 3 of those 4 actions are from our club.

Fergus,
We don't see too many Walthers around these parts. Guess there wasn't too many of 'em that got across the pond. They seem to work pretty good though, judging from you guy's scores.

Nice shooting this month! JL

IMHO the click-clacks can pretty well hold their own against the bolt guns @ 25, but @ 50 they are overmatched. If you look at the scores of 230 or better, you'll find 8 Anschutz, 6 Suhls, & 2 Rugers plus onesey-twoseys of several other flavors (Halls, Times, Turbos, etc). As Mike said, the bolts outnumbered the autos by 6 to 1 in the overall mix but even if the mix was more even, I think the autos would be hard-pressed to stay with the bolt guns........
