Help regarding new Gander Mountain Ad

They have your choice of .17HMR or .22WMR for 249.99 with scope, but the trigger doesn't look like an Accutrigger. Does Savage still make Mark II's without that feature? You can go to Gander Mountain and look under current sales on page 10. I can't see the model number listed anywhere and don't see a listing on Savage's website.

i don't know about the Gander Mountain guns, but I know that Walmart still sells a Savage Mark II in .22lr that does not have the accutrigger. It's got a synthetic stock and only costs around $110...

so i'd venture to guess that either Savage does still produce some non-accutrigger models for specific retailers OR gander mountain is using an old photo and they really do have the accutrigger. Call them up or go in there and look at it.

$249 on sale sounds like it would have the accutrigger. MSRP is around $280 for those.

They still make the standard trigger machanism for use in the Stevens rifles. I don't think it'd be too far-fetched to think that they wouldn't use them in their entry-level Savage rifles, also.

2 weeks ago I purchased a 17. cal Thumbhole HMR (darker stock) with a Simmons scope and and an accu-trigger for $245.00 from Dicks Sporting Goods here in Denver, so I think it's possible that Gander could be selling the same.

And I'm real happy with it; but will be upgrading the scope in the future.

Are they the blue bull barrel synthetic stock? I've seen those in the local store for the last month or so for $299 without Accutrigger. I don't know what the deal is, whether they're built for Gander or if it's some old stock that turned up somewhere. I saw one in WalMart in .17HMR without scope for $177 and the sporter barrel .22lr for $117. Started to go ahead and buy one at WalMart but would rather have the Accutrigger.

A local shop should be able to get you one w/ accutrigger for just under $200 wholesale... if you paid them teh 250, you'd be helping out a mom-n-pop operation instead of a corporate chain...

Cartridge choice

As far as the choice of cartridge, here is a good article:

I bought a MKII 22LR w/accutrigger and a simmons scope from Dicks in Jan 08 for $198.00.
It is a super accurate rifle.

That model in the Gander ad does not have the Accutrigger. They are ordering me a .22 mag in the stainless w/Accutrigger
