CZ 527 Varmit, rings?

Log in to see fewer ads
Sorry if this is the wrong section, but went to Scopes and didn’t get any response.

I have a CZ 527 Varmint in 204 and want to mount a 30mm scope with a 44mm front bell. I can’t find any size chart for what rings l need and would like to keep the scope mounted as low as possible. Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks
Wonderdog1

Update: I had contacted Optics Planet and they got back to me today. They said Warne suggested using their medium height rings. Problem solved, at least l hope so.

As I recall the 527 comes with CZ high rings. The 527's bolt handle needs a high ring to clear the scope and bolt handle unless you buy a aftermarket handle or grind down the stock one. I would buy High rings.

Or have one of the newer 527's that has a modified handle from the factory, if so the Mediums will work.

If you have one of the newer 527s, the bolt handle should clear the eyepiece. And, even with the heavier Varmint barrel the medium Warnes should leave just enough room with that 30mm tube and 44mm objective. Any larger objective lens, especially of it is AO - or a 1" tube and that 44mm - probably wouldn't clear.
Also note that aftermarket ringmount heights for CZs vary by brand. Although the 527 Varmints don't come with rings like the Americans, my Burris "mediums" are almost equal to the stock (high) CZs.

Warne medium is what you want.

Unless you shoot free recoil, with the straight stock and comb height being so low on the CZ 527 your thinking of keeping the scope as low as possible is spot on.

If your CZ 527 was made within the last 5-6 or so years you should have the newer style bolt handle. Both, the new version and old, look the same on the gun but if you pop the bolt handle out of the bolt they're pretty easy to distinguish between the two for someone that has had both.

The only two CZ 527's I have left are a couple 527 Varmint model 17 Hornets. One has a Burris 4.5-14x42 w/AO the other has Vortex HD LH 3-15x42. I can't find a pic of the one with the Burris but here is a pic for reference with the one that has a 42mm Obj. and Warne med. rings.
