Super deal on the Houze book!

Started to buy it myself as a back-up, but that would be unfair to those who don't have a copy. Very reasonable shipping, too.

And it is the version that was printed in the USA, not the China printing.

Just noticed he posted that page of Amazon rip-offs to make his look "cheap," but not the one on ebay that's $200 or BO. Also US printing, not that it would make a flip to me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/16488314244...sAAOSwu~VgrOyh

Seriously, do such suckers really exist?

That book is selling for nearly twice what I paid for my 52 Slow lock. Ah...no thanks.

As a life-long book collector, I got to know many pro sporting book dealers (most of whom have now been put out of business by the internet). It was almost a matter of personal pride with most of them NOT to compare prices with other dealers when pricing a book--they went by their gut-feeling of what "the market would bear." It's amazing, now that it's so easy to compare prices on bookfinder & ABS, that so many continue to price this way, but many do! Evidently, there are enough fools & suckers to make it profitable.

About six months ago I got curious about the prices of reference books on guns. I started searching Abe's Book & Amazon for prices. I was amazed at what some go for now. Several that I bought for $30-$40 are now worth many hundreds of dollars to the right person. I made up a personal card catalog for my books. The whole family has been instructed not to yard sale them, but to sell them at auction when I take a dirt nap.

Most amazing is that books that couldn't be sold for $30-$40, such as Petrov's on Custom Gunmakers, now bring hundreds after they went out of print. It's as if some buyers "won't pay attention" until they find out a book is in short supply & others are paying high prices for it; another example (like masks)) of herd mentality.

Without a doubt, same thing will happen if the new M.69 book goes out of print--folks who though $80 was too much will pay twice that or more for a copy!

Yes! The Vol. 2 is priced close to the going rate, but the Vol. 1 is as brazen a rip-off as you'll find. An easy way to expose such rip-off artists is to ask what they'll PAY for the same book in the same cond. If the book is worth anywhere near what they're asking, they ought to be willing to pay half of that price, right? Wrong! Ain't gonna happen!
