Butchered Super Exclusive?

There is a 452 Super Exclusive on the broker with a 22.5 inch barrel.

Is that a chop shop butchered rifle ? Supposed to be the 28 inch ?

That could be a typo or something. Without a link it's hard to say. Do the pictures look right?

Wow looks like someone put some serious effort into butchering that one, cut the barrel, turned it down to accept the original front sight collar and refitted it (larger barrel diameter behind the collar is the give away). And to top it all off it appears to be one of the Very Few Walnut stocked ones....Don't look old timers it'll make you cry....

No mention of the rear sight either but by this time what difference does it make.

The owner chopped off the barrel because it was too long for $1,000 Alex.

Too late for me Gerald, I read your post after looking at photo. Good grief, a walnut stock for that rifle.........

If I could buy the stock only, it would be of much more interest to me.

Could be wrong about this but the butt pad does not
look right to me. It does not seem to fit well, a bit large.

Maybe this was a cut down job for a youth or someone who
needed a shorter LOP and barrel ?

I have a Super Exclusive and love it. However, it is a nuisance putting it in the trunk of the car, getting it through a screen door and you need to be an orangutan to get it out of the gun case and even then you jostle your neighbour. Plus people sneer at your fifty yard groups claiming the muzzle almost touches the target.

Somebody wanted a 452, couldn't find one and shortened a Super Exclusive for field use.

Never seen an American from the factory with iron sights (look under sights on your list there's a - ), the gold trigger gives away the Ultra Lux heritage and the cheek piece on a walnut stock hasn't shown up since the original Ultra Lux's until the current 457 Luxes....

No American I've ever seen had adjustable sights, plus the American had a straight stock as shown in catalog, not the hump back stock on Trainers, Lux and Super Exclusive (Ultra lux) rifles.
Also, no American had a step in barrel to accommodate the front sight, ref gmd1950's observation. One of the photo's shows Super Exclusive stamped on barrel, Super Exclusives came with iron sights,
a humped stock and a 28.6" barrel. The rifle in the photo was never an American.
