This is but one of the floating islands of trash in our oceans I googled that makes marine biologists cringe.

They're not the only ones cringing! My God how stupid can human beings be?

No BYO bags here due to Covid.

Plastic that releases all its contents in your vehicle before you get home or hope to get less recycled content paper bags - (reduced fiber length) in the paper bags that will make it home intact.

Not trying to be a Hemp advocate but its high fiber content could reduce tree usage. Then again those trees are most likely fast grown southern varieties for the sole purpose of paper.

CA has some crazy regs on reusable grocery bags. Single use plastic bags have been banned here...

"(E) It shall be capable of carrying 22 pounds over a distance of 175 feet for a minimum of 125 uses and be at least 2.25 mils thick, measured according to the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard D6988-13."

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...1.&lawCode=PRC

And that's just one of at least four pages on the subject.

I always ask for plastic and pay the dime they charge me. They never tear or leak like the old ones did. I use them as kitchen trash bags, cat waste bags, luggage, all kinds of stuff. They're great.

Never taken one back to the store to reuse it as a grocery bag though.

Thought this thread was about toilet paper.

Plastic here because they become my trash bags. Garbage in and garbage out.

No choice. Plastic here. Once emptied, most go straight in the garbage with rips in them. We used the paper grocery bags to make book covers for our school books back in the day. You could write or draw on them to personalize. I see there are other uses for the plastic bags of today as well.
