I have two 6" S&W revolvers (617&648) that are equipped with Leupold Delta Point Pros that I want to carry squirrel hunting. I have seen several other similar revolvers on here and was hoping for a lead on a holster to carry these in.

COWS Holster used to produce the holster in this video out of nylon, at less than half the cost of the leather version.
I bought one, like this leather one, with the slot for an optic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTJfzcn1Qlo

When it arrived, it looked like my six inch 617 with a scope would fit,, I tried it,,
The 617 Smith fit like this holster was made for the revolver, not the Ruger MK rimfire pistol.

I guess I have had this holster over 5 years,,
I can not say if the leather one is identical, but, they are made by the same company, and LOOK identical,,

My nylon holster is perfect for me,,
Maybe you can find someone with a leather version that could try a 617 for fit?

Thank you for the reply. If nothing else you pointed me to a holster for my Ruger.

i went with a Galco Kodiak Hunter for my ruger SBH and Freedom Arms 83, its got the top cut out for scopes. My FA has a RMR on it and it works out nicely. Dont know if they make one for the S&W you have but might be worth a look.

I have two of the Galco Kodiaks one for my Xframe and one for my N frame. They swallow the K frame guns.
I sent Doc Baranti a message and supposed to send me him some pics.

The best holster I've found for 6" revolvers is the Bianchi Cyclone #111. It can be used strong side or cross draw and is a very versatile comfortable holster.
