Worst I've shot, or tried to shoot, was Remington Target, the standard velocity load that came in yellowish transparent 100 round plastic trays. Bang pow poof click. Loose crimps, lopsided bullets, rounds with no primer, etc.

Good gift for someone you don't like.

3 weeks ago I won 5th prize in a vol fire dept raffle, it was 500 rounds of Winchester Super-X 22LR ammo. To me, only one step up from the bottom of the ladder, which is Remington Thunderbolts.

It was like did I really win anything?? I wonít shoot it, the only benefit I see is the grandkids now have plinking ammo, for their guns.

Aguila super extra 40 gr. This stuff fails to eject and stove pipes in Mark III, Mark IV, Buckmarks, VS&W victories. Even my Ruger SR22 is only about 90% reliable with it. Tried in a revolver and it fires, but then ejecting is round by round as I can't get them to fall or push out with the manual ejector. Shooting that stuff or at least the batch I have is a chore, not a joy.

I hear good things about this stuff so I think I may have just got an exceptionally bad case of it. But at this point why gamble? CCI all the way.

After the great .22 shortage I bought several boxes of Federal AutoMatch. It was good before the shortage, but not afterwards.
My 10/22 used to shoot it into a ragged home at 50 yards - now I'm lucky if i can get 10 shot inside 3"
I guess I'll hang onto it - the Demos may get elected in 2020 and I'll want "some" ammo, inaccurate ammo is better than no ammo.

Remington Golden Bullets - dirtiest and least consistent Iíve ever shot. I wonít even plink with it - itís not with the fouling I have to remove from my firearm.

Winchester white box. I bought a box before the last 22 gold rush and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. My 10/22 was throwing them so bad I couldn't even group them. I tried Winchester 22 mag in my Ruger and the cases had to be hammered out with a cleaning rod. Not sure if it was the gun or the ammo.

I tested and shot a lot of Win White Box and it tends to be (like someone said before) the next step just above Remington's .22 LR ammo. Sometime, there a good lot of it that actually shoots quite well. I feel pretty sure that a lot of the feeding and extraction problems we hear about for Winchester LR ammo is because their cases are around .003" larger in diameter than any other manufactured LR ammo. And if one has a tight match grade chamber, for sure . . . one is most likely going to have to do as you have and hammer them out with a cleaning rod. I have a vintage Winchester Model 77 that does have a larger chamber and bore and the Winchester ammo does quite well with it.

Another vote for Remington Thunderbolt. After my dad passed I dug several boxes out of the back of his gun cabinet. I'm guessing they are about 30 years old now. They hung around a few more years mixed in with my ammo reserves. A while back I decided to shoot them up just for plinking, or so I thought. Most won't chamber in anything that has a decently cut chamber and if they do it's a crap shoot if they will go bang or not. Total junk.

I read the header and thought, "Hmm, I've never had bad ammo." Then I remembered years ago testing lots of Eley Tenex and Lapua Dominator. I had four lots of Lapua that couldn't print ten-shot groups under 2.5 in. at 100 yds. My experience with Tenex has always been that it is either good, or gooder.

The worst? Late 70's, early 80's Federal Lightnings - lots of pfffts. I have some Thunderbolts that won't cycle well in my 22/45 but work in a 10/22. Remington Goldens, PMC, and Win333's shoot well to kill truck loads of prairie dogs in my 22/45, 77/22, 541T's, and 10/22. Don't see what the big deal is.
