I own both the H001 and the H004M and I took my 4M out to the range for the first time the other day. Maybe just having a bad day, wind, cold, but I just didn't feel as though the 4M was making tight groups for 50 yrds. I have a Leopold 1.5-4 on the cantilevered mount.

Not close to what I get from my 10/22 lr.

I'm reserving judgement until I get to go out again under better conditions, but generally, are you happy with the accuracy of the Golden Boy 22M?

How did you resolve the issue of the H004M not making tight groups? Was it the gun, or did it turn out to be you having a bad day, wind, or cold? What are the spectacular standards you got the next time out?

Confused yet? I am. Op posts i ave 2 Henry rifles. One a 22, the second a 22magnum. The magnum shot poorly first time out. Asks why? No response, then everything is great? Sarcasm?

I don't have a 22 magnum golden boy, i do have a 9422 M , and it doesn't shoot as tight as my 9422 in 22lr. I never expected it to. 22 magnum , isn't as accurate as 22 lr. They say its the ammo, i don't know if it is, or there is another reason. It just isnt.

Lever guns don't make good groups, at least for me, too much movement between shots to get consistency. On the other hand. ,the first shot is often in the bullseye. And they are fun, and good in the field.

Toomany, you nailed it. I was just kind of surprised that after my initial post and a lot of views, no one said a peep. Clearly, it's not a chatty group. The Henry's are really great looking rifles. Their lever action has always been very smooth, and the .22wmr is particularly slick.

Thanks for your summary of the accuracy of these guns, I agree 100% and enjoy them in spite of any shortcomings.

In my experience, it's the ammo. I tested a boat load of various 22 mag ammo, with marginal results. Then, I got a good lot of CCI 40GR TMJ that shot lights out in my 9422M. Consistently sub-2" groups at 100 meters with peep sights.
