Problem with Pac Lite Barrel

I recently found a Pac Lite barrel for my 22/45 for a great price. The store had a special for $220 on a 4.5 " barrel with removable cap so I could add a compensator. I got on line and ordered the Tac-Sol compensator for it immediately.

The barrel was very loose on my gun. So loose that it would fall off until I got the mainspring housing attached. Guys on this forum told me how to tighten the barrel for assembly by putting a Blast Shield in from to the locking lug that would also act as cover to keep junk from getting into the action.

Even without the Shield I had to use my brass hammer to get the mainspring housing onto the gun. It was that tight. I was afraid I was going to break it but it didn't take that much effort. One link I read said it was so tight it wasn't worth putting the Pac Lite barrel on the gun.

Before putting the shim on, the barrel was fantastic. I ran over 300 rounds without a hiccup, I even had some of the best groups I've had from this gun. After the shim I had nothing but trouble. All my fault. I made the shim too long and the bullets were catching it on their way up the feed ramp.

Long story short, ( Too Late) I took the shim out and left the barrel loose. I love the barrel and the compensator. I can really tell the difference between it and the heavy target barrel that was on the gun.

The Pac Lite turned out to be a great accessory to my 22/45. I'll post pictures later.

I tried to follow their video but could not smash the barrel enough to make a dent in it. That's shy I tried the shim.

Like you say, it's working so I'll leave it alone. It proves that even loose the barrel shoots great.

I have an 8" fluted Tac Sol barrel , old barrel, and it shoots great and cleans easily. Enjoy you gun ! If it shoots good , don't worry just shoot it . Good decision.
