I am so excited to take mine out! I have several types of ammo to play with, so I think I'll take my time!

I just learned of a nearby indoor range, so I think I'll mount up a scope tomorrow and take her in.

Hello!

For your survey, here's another data point ...

It's serial number 10828, and here's the date code ...

If you can decipher that, please let me know what it says.

The stock is uncut, with a plain (not inletted) rear swivel. The rear sight is a Redfield Olympic. I'm not sure about the front.

Thanks!
Dave

Thanks! Is there any special meaning to the fact that the date code (YYK) is repeated? Or to the fact that the code is on the right side instead of the left?

Or is all that meaningless static cased by the vagaries of manufacturing?

Thanks again!
Dave

I have serial# 10811 and it has those exact same stampings. I also wondered as to why the repeat. By the way it is set up the same way with the Redfield Olympics.

Yeah it's interesting but still no info on the repeat stamping. Looks kind of cluttered if you ask me. If ours were both on a rack a few feet away it would be really hard to tell them apart.

Your front sight is also a Redfield Olympic.
It looks like whoever put the first letters on used three hash marks to make the Y's. Maybe Remington QC didn't like that and then added the two VV's with hash mark tails to make them into Y's. They must not have had a Y stamp. Anyway that's what I think happened.

That makes as much sense as anything we'll ever know. Now, I've gotta get the thing to the range to see how it shoots!

Thanks!

My 37 serial number is 03561 and the letters are CK. Just got this gun and everything seems to be original and very very good condition.
