What kind of QD mount is that? I would like one like that instead of the one I have for my M20s...

It's a Larue LT606 offset mount. I bought it off eBay for $100.00. The bonus was that it came with the light.

Now that's a sweet gift of 60-80 bucks!

I was definitely happy with the purchase. Keep a watch on eBay if you are interested in one. You can find one there for much less than what Larue sells them for.

Other than Nic's Larue mount, are there any suggestions to a low-cost but good quality mount?

Also, what's your input on lasers? effective? not? waste of money? seem like they'd bee cool, but not very useful...

Forgot to ask... do you know of a pressure switch for it? Also, would it be practical to put a pressure switch on each side of the grip for a light and a laser? I imagine you could, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to control one or the other or both at a time, without accidentally turning the other on or off.

The Olight offset mount (for one inch flashlights) is supposed to be pretty good. (I think it is the one Chaser has on his rifle on page 1.) I saw a review or two on Youtube and they were positive. I almost bought one, but I needed one that absolutely did not obscure my sight view, and I was scared it would since my sight is low.

Currently 12.57 on eBay with Buy it Now.

I have the same one...for under 15 bucks it's surprisingly well made for being Chinese...I have media blasted and Duracoated it, and it is tough to beat for the price...

Lasers and lights

I really like the maglite xl50. Uses aaa batteries. As far as lasers go put a centerpoint laser on top of my 15/22 and I love it. Dispatched a pesky racoon and numerous rats at night. Laser and light can be found at walmart.

I had the same problem with a 6P LED mounted to the forend of a 870. It would not only flash under recoil but also when racking the forend forward chambering another round. I also found the weight of the batteries beat the snot out of the spring in the tail-cap. Eventually, the spring/light failed. I now run X300's on my defensive weapons.

If I was inclined to put a light on a .22, which I am not, I think the G2 would be a decent choice. I highly doubt the recoil of a .22 would cause any problems. If something goes bump in the night, I would be more concerned over the fact that I'm holding a .22 then what light I have one it. But that's a whole different topic.

The Streamlight TRL-1 would also be a good choice at a reasonable price.

***My first post on this forum. Hello to all. I'm currently building a 10/22 I bought last year. I haven't touched a firearm since last March due to the fact that we bought a house. I've been spending most of my free time on that and working on my truck. Since it appears that I can't leave anything stock, I've been buying all new parts for this rifle, except for the receiver. I look foward to sharing. Great forum, BTW!!!

I believe that most of us are using the lights on .22s for killing raccoons, foxes, and the like... I would agree wholeheartedly with you otherwise. As for your 10/22 build, let me give you a piece of advice. The only time you'll stop improving it is if you get another 10/22 and start a second build, and even then, maybe not.

My bad. I was thinking more along the self-defense lines. I can see a flashlights utility for dispatching pests in the dark. And zombies.I've always got by with ambient light. Wonder if someone makes a light mount that would fit under my scope and would allow me to mount a X300 off to the side??? I have a VQ 1913 rail for my scope mount, the longer one that doesn't attach to the barrel. My ring's are low Leupold PRW's.

What 1913 mount is this? I'm looking for something lower than my VQ.

All the mounts and base on it are made by Larue Tactical.

The flashlight mount is a Larue LT606 offset mount.
