I have been getting the proto-type machining set up now. I just got this working and have about 500 or so rounds through it without a hick up so far. We are pretty set on tooling and barrel now. I will be offering the conversions probably in kit form. We should jump to another Thread or maybe PM me. If you are interested there is a bit more. I hate to state accuracy results. I can say it shoots as well as any 17 Mach2 I have seen. That includes my EA Brown 10-22.

CZ 452, Mueller 4.5-14x40 AO with Talley 100005 rings. Still working on fine tuning but so far very pleased with performance of both the round and the rifle, especially for a sporter.

Here is my HM2 I put together this winter. It's a Remington 581 Action, Anschutz 1502 barrel, I inletted and reshaped quite a bit of the stock, reworked the trigger to 1lb 10oz., pillared and bedded with a Weaver V24 and Burris Zrings. I also use John Reeds metal magazine, it's outstanding.

I can't handie the cold to well do to health so haven't shot a lot but at 50yds was boring accurate. Was below freezing but decided to move out to 100yds with my last 5 rds, easy squirrel head shooters at 100yds. Didnt have calipers with me, last 3rds in oblong hole on right. Not cherry picked, only 5 rds shot. New production Hornady.

Love this rifle. I appreciate people posting some of their builds, many amazing rifles.

The barrel was a 20" blank round barrel from green Mountain in .17cal. They run $45. I then had a local gunsmith make it octagon and chamber it for the 17hm2. That's where the costs start to get large. I also had him make me a butter knife bolt handle.

I'm toying with the idea of getting an already made octagon from Green Mountain in 17 cal. and having it mated with a Ruger American Rimfire. I have the wood stock version.

Wow, that's some impressive work there!

I got a 77/22 WMR GM octagon barrel on closeout awhile back. It has been a super accurate barrel.

grg, nice rifle! How difficult was it to fit the 1502 to the Remington action?

The 1502 barrel shank just needs to be turned down a little and lengthened to fit the Remington action. Once fit use loctite and set barrel checking headspace. Pretty simple if you have access to a lathe.
