Walther PPQ Q5 Match 9mm

Its enroute yesterday, same day as joining Buds per having to be a member to purchase. Dang, that's faster than Larry's Nitro shipping!

First off I'm not a pistol guy. I fondled a half dozen different 9mm makes and preferred the Walthers features the most. I couldn't find a Walther's standard 5" barrel model online or at the LGS so I bumped up to this race gun looking 5" model, with sights I can use for home defense with a light mounted beneath. Its main use, hopefully, will be familiarization of use at ye olde gravel pit for blastinating targets. I liked the lighter pull striker fired trigger of the 4" one at the LGS over all the other I tested. While the 1st rd take-up is a bit mushy the striker is fully cocked for the first rd and the pull the same as the following rds.. Reset is short.

I think you'll love it Al. I've got an older PPQ M2 5" and it points and shoots almost as smooth as my Sig P210 legend which says a lot considering the price difference.

Congratulations!

I own a Q5 Match. In fact, I just fired nearly 300 rounds through it today at an IDPA Regional Match.

The Walther is a no-excuses pistol, it is thoroughly wonderful. You are gonna love it!

I'm just messin' with ya Al. It's a good looking pistol and I think you'll be well pleased with the ergonomics. The grip looks weird but they sure fit like a glove.

To my eye the Walthers have an odd looking grip... BUT, it is ergonomic and possibly the best feeling grip I've ever held. The triggers are also excellent for a striker fired pistol.

That's a nice looking pistol I think you're going to love yours.

Kinda goofy looking grip, like the CZ humpback IMO, but it does feel good and the strike felt more solid than others.

Christmas in Yoopersville

Looks like you could use the bore for a shaving mirror Al and I sure wish I could shoot offhand groups like that at 25 yards!

So I take it you're happy happy happy

Frank...Corporal E-4 not Butterbars O-1...it's a long story

Sounds like USMC politics, you'll have to tell me sometime.

Spousal unit, ex E-4 Navy corpsman, err, corps-person, says its my B-day present for next month. She's getting new triple pane windows this spring so she still owes me, in my mind.

Another E-4 had been in country one week longer than I hence he got the E-4, platoon sgt. job. He whined from a little hole in his leg the same time they were putting my legs in balloon splints and giving this heathen last rights.

Al, almost a dead Sarge

ETA- that's Walther's test target.

Nothing that exotic Al. I used to fly RC airplanes a lot (still do a little) and put Captain Crunch name tags on the cockpits for fun...then after I murdered the 8th or 9th poor defenseless little model airplane I demoted myself to Lt Crunch. I guess it's kinda impersonating an officer but at this point I'm way past office hours and NJP.

Glad Sir Charles didn't take you out! And yes, I figured it was the factory test target but I'd still be thrilled to shoot unrested groups like that at 25 yards with iron (plastic?) sights.

Congratulations again on the new pistol and good thinking talking care of Mrs Infidel!

Frank
