I might consider it if it is a Centennial. My search for one at local garage sales has been fruitless.

I'm not in the market but it might be worth taking a drive over to Allen to check it out

EDIT: Nevermind it's a 82G

Directed at me? If so, I don't appreciate the snob comment. I have one already. Not worth the trip to Allen for something I already own. Shot it for in our smallbore 4P league for a few years. It did great for a $425 rifle. As the moderator of the Kimber forum I'm almost embarrassed to admit it's my one and only Kimber. So I'd love to have an 82 sporter too. If there was one nearby for $600 I might've been to Allen already with hopes of correcting that.

In it's current configuration....

PW, that's an awesome gun. How about some better pics and a little intel about how it came about?

Unfortunately, those are probably the best pics I'll have for awhile. The rifle's basically been in my gun safe since I moved south a few years ago. Getting cold out now.

It came about from seeing other guys post pics of theirs right here in the Kimber forum. The SSV stocks were from that guy that was selling all the Kimber parts on GB. I had to do quite a bit of inletting to get the trigger housing to fit and had to get creative to make the trigger guard work but it all came together pretty nicely. The scope on it in the pics is a Redfield 6400 20X. I bought a Weaver 6-24 for it a few years ago but never mounted it.

Some additional pics from that photo shoot in my back yard in IL.

It's kind of a oddball but I like it.

Yes and no. Some things are better and some aren't. I lived there for 50 years so N. IL is still home to me and always will be. I was in the Fox River Valley (NW of Chicago) and it was a really nice place to live. I actually enjoyed shooting & fishing more there than I do here in TX too. I don't miss the crazy politics or frigid Winters one bit though!

PWNolan:

A bit late here but that is a killer representation of a fine Kimber rifle.

Ya know, you just could have moved down here to Southernmost Illinois (south of Rt. 13) and gotten away from all that Northern IL stuff..... different color and climate here..... political and atmospherically... LOL
