My charger is awsome!

When I first bought my charger I wasn't at all impressed with the accuracy. I use my rimfire rifles for squirrel hunting and although it's not paper at the range I want my shots to be precise head shots out of respect for the game I am hunting.
My charger shot huge groups when I first got it. I have shot it in the original stock and a rifle stock and after about 1000 rounds it shoots around 3/8" at 50 yards. That pretty good I think. I'm going to go ahead and apply for a sbr stamp for it so I can use it in a rifle stock with a can.

Or you could get a pistol brace. If you have the plastic stock Copper Custom and Farrow Tech make adapters. SBR/$200 + Can/$200=$400. Mine is a tube type with a folder. The Farrow Tech was not available when I built mine.

Another option is the SBX barrel which has a permanently attached can shield and is just over the 16" length. A standard 10-22 can be used or the Charger in a rifle stock without the SBR requirement.

I already have the can. I have a wood stock charger. I thought about cutting the wood stock and adding the pistol brace but I have an ati folding, adjustable stock that i like so with an sbr stamp I can use the ati stock or any other stock with it.

Is it ok to shoot a changer in a rifle stock before you get a stamp?

No, not if you get caught. It's a felony.

Can you change a pistol into a rifle jus by putting on a longer barrel and a rifle stock? I thought once a pistol always a pistol , and that no rifle stock was allowed, stam or no stamp.

Pistol to rifle and back to pistol is no problem, sir.

If you put a rifle barrel in a Charger you are good to go even with a rifle stock.

Just don't put a barrel less than 16" into the receiver and install it in a rifle stock.

Spend the stamp money on an SBX barrel with can shield. I listed a link in my 1st post. With that barrel you can install the Charger in a rifle stock and still be only 16.5" with the can installed.

It is permanently attached. I believe the barrel and cage are aluminum with a steel liner. It is a bull barrel. TacSol make top quality gear. Right now the best price I can find is at Grabagun. If Optics Planet comes out with a 10% coupon then they will be in the ball park with free shipping.

Just to be clear, the charger is in it's original pistol stock. I bought the gun in the hope that it would be accurate enough to consistently do head shots on squirrels out to about 50 yards. When I first got it I tried it in the ati stock and the groups at 25 yards were around 2". The gun went back to the pistol stock and I pretty much just shot 1000 rounds at the dirt. Once I got the charger broke in I tried the ati stock again and that is when I started this thread. Less than 3/8" at 50 yards, I think I'll keep it.
As far as all the other stuff to buy just so I don't have to file for a sbr stamp, add it all up and it's more than the cost of the sbr stamp and who knows how accurate the barrel will be..
Do I want to get a sbr stamp? No. Did I want to get a can stamp? Again no. Paying an extra $400 to have a comfortable, quite gun to carry is ridiculous in my opinion but ya got to pay to play.
I do like all the adaptors and the barrel though.

Personally if you want to use the ATI stock just get a standard 10-22 rifle with a threaded barrel and get a can. If you want it shorter get the SBX barrel if it fits in your stock. I braced my Charger and it works fine. I use SV or SS ammo with the can and it is accurate enough for head shots on squirrels at 50 yard. Whether I am accurate enough is another question.

I have already been using the ati stock with a regular 10/22 with a 16 1/2" barrel and can. And it works way better for me than a regular stock 10/22.
Have you used the sx barrel?
