Advice please, what would you do?

Problem: piecing together a takedown and have found that the volquartsen barrel with mounted rail will not work with brownells takedown receiver. I chose the barrel mounted rail to help myself with any repeatability problems, but with it installed, the barrel can't rotate far enough to clear the receiver without the rail contacting the corner of the action. I can: a) go to a receiver mounted rail b) machine the underside of the rail to gain clearance c) relieve the side of the clamp on the receiver so the barrel doesn't rotate as far to release d) return the barrel for a refund and try another. Suggestions?

That is a first that I've heard. Lots of people use those barrels with the mount on their TD's and I've never heard of anyone having this problem. I would think that the problem is with the receiver being bigger in that area than an OEM TD. Unless your scope mount got bent down somehow.

I wasnt neccesarily blaming the barrel or rail, it very well could be that the receiver is wider than the ruger pattern. I will also look into the alignment issue and its fix. This might fix things as it contacts just at the front corner, not along the entire length as I would have expected. Thanks guys.

I'll just interject that if you're using the Brownells receiver, don't bother trying to pair it with a Timney trigger and PMACA chassis.

If it was me I'd scrounge up a Ruger receiver and save thr Brownells for another project.

As I see more posts like this, I have less faith in the Brownells receiver.
