Mfg in 1926 on a 0 size frame, it carries and shoots beautifully. I love it.

We have some really nice varied terrain here, from prairie to canoe country, and despite the 3 degree temp outside now you'd have a hard time getting me to leave. The small game hunt happened in southern MN, the waterfowl was in the Twin Cities metro area, and this year's deer hunt was in north-central MN.

I'm gonna sneak these in here, we went into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for the last few days of September and first of October and had another great trip. This is just a few miles from the Canadian border.

Seven trumpeter swans lifting off together is something to experience, at one point there were nine together.

Fishing wasn't the best but we certainly caught enough to eat. I take my pan work seriously too.

I got an awesome show from the Aurora Borealis late one night and the International Space Station made a couple of solid experiences. If you're used to watching satellites, you know nothing compares to the ISS.

I think this was my 15th deer opener, I'm 30 now and am pretty sure it was 15 when I started. I took a coworker along who has been deer hunting for the past five years, including some pretty frigid hunts by MN standards, and had yet to tag one. Ended up being the first time I'd been able to photograph deer before taking a shot, which was fun. 45 minutes into opening morning a handful of deer appeared across the pasture my blind overlooks. Right before this pic a smaller forky buck just disappeared into the swampy birches, and I'd already decided to let the young buck in the photo grow up for next year so he was safe. He's got a tight little 8-point rack but is already a full framed deer, when his rack is past his ears he will be a monster. The doe on the right side kept holding still and the shot was 230 yards, a little far for my buddy, so I went for it. She didn't go far.

Nice fat doe and my .270 barely damaged any meat, so I can't ask for more. Last year I didn't get any shot opportunity so I was eager to get it done. No regrets not waiting for a big buck though maybe next year. I'll be hunting Illinois with family later in the month so I will be getting more prime deer hunting time in yet.

Now my buddy was in the hot seat and after patiently waiting all day (and the past few seasons), a couple of does came out of the woods and he quietly got his rifle on the shooting sticks. He'd bought his first centerfire this summer after borrowing rifles for years, a Mark X .270 that I'd refinished, bedded, and slicked up. Took his time to make a good shot and he dropped a doe in her tracks at 150 yards. The smile is real, he earned it.

HEY! That's a great knife! The squirrels, however, appear a bit masticated.

Old Hickery I'll see you and up the ante!!!

Old Hickery I'll see you and up the ante!!! 11-9-2019 results!!! BP hunting. Would have to unload the rifle anyway and this squirrel offered the perfect opportunity!!! Head shots ONLY as a 295 grain PowerBelt would not leave too much edible if hit anywhere else.

God Bless, Frank.

John that is some nice squirrel work and some extremely nice knife work. If I was financially able, I would own one of your knives. You are a master my friend.

Thanks, fellas! I have the rifle sighted in for about 40 yards or so but it is dead on at about 100. Not as good as Sarge's pumphouse deal but OK.

Yeah on up the ante, Frank!

You fellers are sure taking home the meat!

Nice work, fellas!
I got out yesterday and whacked a couple more. I didn't see much because it was so windy.
