Custom molded plugs. Muffs have too much leakage around hair and glasses, and I haven't found a pair yet that didn't bang on or get pushed out of place by the gunstock.

Foam plugs with electronic muffs over the top -- except for .22 rifle, and then it's foam plugs only. I usually use Howard Leight Impact Sport muffs, but when I'm shooting really loud handguns I use the Impact Pro.

I did some damage to my ears when I was younger, mostly with rock 'n' roll and motorcycles. I have some tinnitus and loss of high frequencies, and I want to hang on to what I've got as long as possible.

3M Classic foam plugs. Combined with lo pro muffs if I'm shooting centerfire

Muffs seem to work better than plugs when I'm shooting the 9 pistol or the AR. If I'm having a sensitive day, both. My gas leaf blower is another hearing robber.
