Should be a decent to good shooter and you've got enough ammo to figure out what it likes, if the price suited you I'd say you can expect to have a good time.

The Hornady 30gr v-max has been the most consistent performing for me.

Well, in relation to todays ammo prices, .90 @ i got an excellent price, Compared to a year ago , not so excellent.
But I wanted the ammo , for my other wmrs, and the Savage was part of the deal.
Im still trying to work out what part of the deal, because there aren't any of these for sale now either.
I dont hunt anymore, but once in while i like to shoot my wmrs at the range, just to hear the louder report, and experience the feeling.
When things get better, the savage will likely become a gift to my nephew, who is an avid hunter. When he can buy his own ammo.

Hm, some extra attention from your local LEO?
Best of this bunch is very likely the 30grain VMAX as others have stated.
The Winchester 34grain has been very close in performance.
Both take a back seat to the RWS - it was only 98 cents per round last time I looked.
Good score!

Hey man, got any ammo?
You must have been walking the parking lot muttering your desire to purchase ammo to every guy with a gun rack in his truck.

All you need is some A22 ammo to round out your assortment. The A22 load is almost equal to the 30gr. Hornady load in both my WMRs, and the price was right before, you know, the thing.

I appreciate your parking lot purchase more than ever because our state(VA) has made these purchases illegal unless the firearm is transfered through an FFL. I dont have a Savage 93 but my old Chuckster likes the heavier ammo. It shoots the 50 grain better than other ammo. I have shot 30gn, 33gn, 40 gn, 45gn and it loves the 50 gn stuff. Guns can be finicky about ammo. I thinks its great that you may give the rifle to your nephew. I have been blessed to help train two of my nephews to shoot and they enjoy it.

Well I finally got it to the indoor range. And am very pleased
The scope was zeroed, so i didnt have to waste ammo. The scope surprisingly clear , the trigger was light and crisp, and the barrel amazingly accurate. Off hand , all in the 2 inch target at 25 yards , some even on the bullseye
All 3 mags worked fine, and the Winchester ammo very consistent.
All in all , the Savage 93 is a very nice gun. Ill be going down to Tennessee this Summer , and my Nephew will be pleasantly surprised with this little hunter.
Hopefully by the the ammo situation will be stabilized, cause im keeping the ammo for my other wmrs, CZ 455 FS and Winchester 9422 M.
