i have 10-22 carbine, the barrel is 17,3/4 inches from the receiver. i was wanting to buy a sporter stock from e-bay, will this stock work? is this the barrel length it came with. i like wood stocks, i am trying to upgrade a little from a carbine stock. thanks for any help , and advice.

put up a pic of your rifle and we can tell you more...

the barrel length on a standard Carbine model should be 18.5"

post up a link to the stock (or stocks) you're interested in, and we'll let you know if they will fit a sporter barrel or not

What , you think hes got some unique barrel in a carbine configuration? He measured from the the receiver face, not the breech face. , oem barrels std taper with iron sights , come in how many lengths? The 16 1/2, 18 1/2, and 20 and 22.
The taper is the same on all of them, they all will fit in a oem sporter stock. The only stock that has a length limitation is the mannlicher, it reqires the 18 1/2.

anything is possible...after all, not all carbines are created equal..

these are all carbines

and who knows what configuration someone could have come up with on a rifle that's as easy to swap parts on as the 10/22, especially when one considers that these rifles have been around for over fifty years...hence the request for a pic

its like the top one you pictured. it is a 79 model. it is real accurate, for a factory barrel. i bought it 12 years ago, and stuck it away it was like new. i dug it out, in march, started shooting it. but the trigger was so horrible, i bought a kid single stage. it now shoots like it is supposed too. i wanted to upgrade the stock, but i think , that is how the disease starts

And then, there's the original sporter.
