Help, what is this part and were does it go?

Ok folks, I'm not a rimfire newbie, but I need help.

I bought a very nice Mark II Competition Target (slabside) that has the custom Volquartsen sear and Clark trigger. It is VERY nice.

I was disassembling the pistol, and when I took the receiver/barrel off the frame, this part popped out....

Does anyone know where it goes? I figured it is placed in the frame, but I'm not sure exactly where.

I reassembled the pistol without this part (it's NOT factory), and the pistol assembled correctly and functions, though I have not fired it after breakdown and cleaning yet.

So, Ruger experts, can you help out a poor CZ guy?

It's called a "blast shield" designed to keep debris out of the receiver, should be some threads or posts on installation.

Yours is designed a little different from mine at the front. Mine wraps around the front lug, while yours goes up and over it. But the idea is the same.

Yes, the pistol had been shot a lot, lots of stovepipes, so I cleaned the pistol and the three dirty magazines.

Thanks for the help, gentlemen. As always, great folks here at RFC.
