Looking for any info on a Schultz & Larsen 22lr free rifle. Thumbhole stock,28in barrel, double set trigger. Believe to be model 47 or 49 but not positive. Does not have a palm rest.

There are a few threads on S&L rifles, some of which have similar information.

See, for example, https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum....php?t=1186569 and https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum....php?t=1157615

Thanks Penage Guy. Mine looks like the model 49 in the pic. It was listed as a model 47 but I don't know the difference.

I think the changes between the very similar Model 47 and 49, for example, were more cosmetic than anything else.

Larsen .22s

Mind me asking what you paid?

I've seen them floating around $5-600 missing their accessories. Talked to a guy up in Michigan said he paid over a grand for his...so prices swing pretty hard.

I sold Vilho Ylonen's personal gun about 2mo ago and was hard pressed to get $900 out of it. (not used in the olympics)

The rifle in the foreground is a Valmet. Is the other one also a Valmet? As a Finn shooting in the late 1940s - early 1960s, Ylönen would understandably shoot one of those fine rifles made in his native land.

The rearsight on the Valmet looks unusual. It's got a bit of a Parker Hale look about it.

The rifle at the back looks like an MTs-12.

All mixed up!

I dunno what I was thinking, I've got this all backwards....
I read schultz and larsen and thought,

"Oh yeah like the Ylonnen gun"

Sorry guys.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I made a hook for a schultz a while back; Real Bear to do, the male dovetail is on the hook not the mounting plate.....Couldn't think of a good way to machine it so I ended up making a pattern from pictures and then sand casting one.

My casting was miserable but theirs were pretty porous so it looked "original"

Looks like a Soviet MTs12 to me too. The Finns do have a history of using Soviet rifles.
