25 yard iron sight practice 4/28/2021
Scores: 463-7X (90-1,89-1, 97-2, 95-1, 92-2)
473-14X (95-1, 91-2, 94-4, 97-4, 96-3)

Name: 72coupe/Roy Woodman
Location: Wichita Falls, Tx
Gun: RPRR
Set up: Aperture sights
Ammo: Wolf MT
Nots: Switched blood pressure medicine after I discovered Lisinopril was causing my tremors. It was also causing a rash and itch along with a dry cough and god knows what else.

At the range it was like I was learning to shoot again. Everything felt different.

Cripe. Did it at least taste good? Kind of ironic that your BP meds would give you side effects that would make anyone angry enough to give you high BP.

Here is to the new stuff treating you better.

On the last bull, 3 of the shots I could cover with my thumb. But they were in the 8 ring.

Still stuck in my doldrums... I am committing myself to get back into dry-fire practice, which i used to do all the time but pretty much quit after i retired (when i was supposed to have more time for that sort of thing ! )

Just doing a bit of it again reminds me of how it shows up mistakes when the tension of the shot is not a factor. Funny how i forget good lessons i have already learned !

I still need to make more tries for a decent scoped score... nothing yet this month that i want to talk about...

I am glad for you Roy. Looks like you are getting back in tune, I'd take that 473-14 Irons any day !

FWIW, My BP runs on the low side, quite low actually... My Dr. is always trying to give me some %%%% chemical to raise my BP, but i keep resisting. He acts insulted when i resist, but i keep doing it anyway. I asked him why i would put some chemical in my body when i am feeling just fine. He did not have a satisfactory answer so i'm not doing it.
Cheers
Bob

From the Milan Rifle Club, Milan Illinois, located close to but not in the Mississippi River. And yes, the .22 shortage is having an impact as several shooters have declined to shoot their existing supplies.

Note: Will be interesting to see how many shoot in May. A shooter said he found bulk Federal at Wall Mart, double the normal price, and had 10 duds in 50 rounds. Number of shooters at the club is way down in both pistol and rifle shooters. Makes it easy to find a spot to shoot.

DATE: 04/30/21

NAME (flinthills), AGE(78):
LOCATION: Air Capitol Gun Club
GUN: BSA Martini MKIII

NOTES, Sunny, 70's, wind 10 mph from 10 o'clock.
I was disappointed. My third 50 yd target in the last two months and each one worse. Had my first zero. I've been dry firing a lot but weather has been bad for shooting. Even for Kansas this has been a bad month. 2 inches of snow, freezing a few days but mostly wind, 20 gusting to 30 was common. Hopefully May will be better.

I know what you mean, but it happens to all of us, don't be discouraged for long, its like they say in baseball, sometimes it's best to have a short memory. I have shot zeros in the middle of a 50yrd try,and gone on to another form of practice many times. Then come back to it days, or hours later, and do fairly well.

Lately i have been trying hard to recognize what went wrong with a bad shot. Then correct it. My list of problems is quite short, but includes all the most common:

1 Overholding ( in the words of Charlie O-failure to "be mentally prepared to take the first 10" )
2 Poor/non existent follow-through
3 Lack of dry-fire practice
4 Attempting to shoot on a day when I am just too shaky

All the best,
Bob4BVM
