Have neither but Savage has a better rf rep for accuracy vs Ruger hands down.

If we were talking 22 LR savage might have the edge but with 17 HM2 or HMR the Ruger barrels are just fine. I put a muzzle brake in my medium heavy Predator and it started shooting under 1/2 inch at 50 yards. I have fired another Ruger with the full camo and the predator profile. It was also very accurate. The only weakness of the Ruger American in 17hmr is the extractor. Sometimes they have to go back to the factory for failure to extract. The magazine is really the biggest advantage of the Ruger. 9 shots of reliable feeding. My Savage 93 would feed from 5 round magazines but not 10.

My buddy gave me one for my birthday. I love it. The only annoying thing is the 10 round mags are a pain to get out, I could probably look into that but I just use the 15ís. Shoots good and with a new spring the trigger is excellent.

Can I ask where you're finding a 93R17 in stock? I've been looking, and they seem to be very scarce.

Yep

That's my predator. I think they dropped the name after it was a "special" limited edition item.

As far as the magazines dropping. There needs to be a little wear around the locking hole. I've had to push the mag from the top a bit to get it to drop free until after it went back to Ruger for extraction and they changed the stock.

I think it's more positive than the one on a Savage.
