Happy Summer, eh?

I've had enough summer already...

Be a good time to go down to the beach and fly kites :t

Mmm... There's no "M" in August. Therefore any target shot with Mini-Mags gets 10 point bonus :)

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class (CL-1 only) is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

I hope my 455 Varmint stock is as nice as yours Ken :t I traded in my 452 with the black syntetic stock some time back. And gun licens in Norway takes forever :( But the rifle is in the post offices care so I hope to get it later today or tomorrow

Stan, I would appreciate info on these rifles. What rings are you using on yours? I've read this model has a difficult to fit dovetail on the receiver. I'm looking for a heavier barrel rifle for the matches. Wrestling with the sporters is more of a challenge than it was a few years ago.

Any other thoughts about these rifles would be appreciated. The rifle I'm looking at is an Izhmash.

Hank
My rifles are Izzy's too.

On the big adult, it only has grooves on the back of the receiver. The cadet is grooved front and back.

I used these rings from pyramid air. Don't remember if I had to file them or not, it's no big deal.
Once installed they're sturdy, trouble free for many years now.

Thanks Hank! I might try a target or two before I hand it over for the trigger and so ;) The 3-12x40 I put on is not the best, but it will do the job I know as it is the same type that is on the 457 I own :D But the plan is to use the 5-25x50 I used on the Walther I had. It was to topp heavy for the sporter guns, but I think it will work on this one :bthumb:

Your stock looks better than the one that was on mine when new. Over here most have a coat of mud applied from the factory, and has to be removed to find what's underneath. The stock on mine now is one I bought of a member here. He got to try on his tactical and didn't like the feel. Said he would sell it for $70. shipping included, and sent me a picture. I responded quickly. :D

I put a large Mueller 8x32 on mine when I first got it, and it looked top heavy but didn't feel like it. The only reason I removed it was to put it back on my Kidd barreled 10/22 it was borrowed from.

I did aluminum tape bedding on the receiver of mine , and it made an improvement. I posted a thread with pictures a few years ago. If you ever want to try it let me know, I'll give you a link to it.

Thanks Stan!! I shot the Class III first because of the more generous bull. The 540 is a cold blooded son of a buck and takes quite a few shots to start laying them in there. You can see the bulls shot first even after 3 warm up shots.:D

Thanks buddy. But all the credit goes to my Dad may He RIP. He bought me my first 22 when I was 10 and he bought a scope at the same time. He would not scope it until I was very proficient with open sights. I probably shot a 1000 practice rounds that summer to meet his expectations. I mowed grass for neighbors for my mad money and LGS was very close and they got most of my sheckles that summer.:D

And nice shooting Mike! I see one heck of a group on that Class I target.

Great blue heron and bike shot at 1/2000 second, distance about 1/4 mile, yesterday.

I shot 'em all with a 600mm lens...

I'm going to try the C3 with the CZ before the end of the month, the Annie is a bit of overkill! The CZ is quite capable of it, but the operator has to work a bit harder.

You guys (girls?) have posted some nice targets this month, keep up the good work. Welcome to the new players!
