Happy Summer, eh?

I've had enough summer already...

Be a good time to go down to the beach and fly kites :t

Mmm... There's no "M" in August. Therefore any target shot with Mini-Mags gets 10 point bonus :)

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class (CL-1 only) is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Thanks Øystein and Kiler :)

That 10/22 seems to be a "minute-of-tomato-paste-can" but the 452 FS is the bomb...

First paper target since quitting benchrest competition. It's fun again.

I printed out a few Class II scoped targets.
Fun is where it's at. :Welcome:

Some good shooting already.....

Dropped some points, but old eyes and figuring out these sights is fun. I didn't let Stan fool me with the harder C2 target, and went for the larget C3. Wasn't sure how to score them... is the bull the white only or the ring as well? Not that it matters... I had some fun and accomplished the main goal.

:D
On that first target, you have a miss and a nick on the other, all the others are inside the lines :)

Good shooting there...

Post-COVID $4.00 ammo does not exist except for a random Walmart appearance. CCI was selling SV and Blazer directly for 3.99 but raised that to $4.99 two months ago.

Some nice pics, guys, and some good shooting along with it.

Is the 452 FS a new addition, Stan? I don't recall seeing it before.
They're nice rifles, they bridge the gap between practical and accurate very nicely.
I like my Varmint, but it's a heavy beast compared to the FS. I kinda keep my eyes open for an FS, even a 455 with pretty wood would go home with me.

I spent a little time in Estes Park years ago, Robert, as a tourist. I was on training in Fort Collins, and Estes was a natural choice for getting some down time from class.
What struck me as really memorable was the number of elk wandering around the outskirts of town. Stuff you just don't see in the east.

I've had the FS for quite a while :)

It was my 5th CZ purchase...

Stan - You must have eyes like many of the hawks you photograph. That airgun target is tough to see. I tried it at 25 yards today and was all over it.... kinda a fuzz ball and I don't think printing it in black and white would have helped. And you got that first star!

John - I suspect you might like that new barrel eh?

Øystein - Good shooting and way to improvise when you forget the targets! But ammo testing is always a good thing.

Ken - I'm not sure if you know this but I suspect you have already purchased that Model 52. Amiright?

Mkane - Good shooting. Shouldn't have any problem clearing the scoped targets.

As for me, took the Remington out to keep figuring out what I can make work with the irons. No light working on my target today, so lighting was worse that usual. Another trip with the post front, covering the C2, and then tried coloring it in and shooting with a 6 o'clock hold. Group seemed better, but shifted left... No spotting scope so they are shot blind once I get sighters going.

Dropped some points, but old eyes and figuring out these sights is fun. I didn't let Stan fool me with the harder C2 target, and went for the larget C3. And for the record, the piece of blue foam is my bench setup. Stand it up enough and the stock is on the front, and my body on the rear. With only 15" deep benches there isn't much space.

And that foam is a patented item, so don't get any ideas! :D

Traded for the rifle this morning. Not a match winner but better than some 455's I've had.

Nicely done Hank... :bthumb:

Another new rifle?

:F
Thank you, Stan. Yes, new to me. Traded a rifle that had a habit of throwing a shot at the wrong time for it. It was on the used rack at local shop and needed cleaning. Had to use both hands to get the firing pin out of the bolt. Old grease and oil had solidified a bit. Light rust here and there on the internals but no pitting and it cleaned up OK. Surprisingly, the barrel looks fine and the first patches came out very clean. Doesn't appear to have many rounds through it.

I'll do a little tinkering an see if the consistency improves enough to be competitive in these 25 yard matches. Simple projects like this are still fun.

I will try some targets when the heat wave is over.
Same here Jack. It looks like today may be the worst, but not much better till the end of the week. I did keep the 52 R, and payed my GS friend yesterday while at the centerfire handgun silhouette match. He's bringing four extra magazines with him to our next shoot in two weeks. It cost me $650 more than the one you passed on 8 years ago. The price of fun doesn't sleep. ;)

Nice shooting all, and welcome to a few newcomers. :bthumb::bthumb:

Wonderful good shooting with Mini-Mags John... :eek:hh: :bthumb:

You gonna frame that, to show what you can do with Mini-Mags?
