Happy Independence Day!!!

:F :F :F :F :F :F

June was going along good when an unseasonably HOT spell of weather hit us... :eek:hh:
Things are back to being summertime normal now.

Have a safe and sane 4th.

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class (CL-1 only) is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Thanks.

Thanks Jack.. :)

This was a pawn shop rescue. It was born to shoot...

I had it for 10 years before I did a trigger job (I didn't want to let the magic out!)

Greyknife- Ralph
Class II Scope
25 Yds 22LR
Savage Mark II BTV
Lapua Midas M (Very old)
6X24 scope set at 12X
July 8,2021 Wind no factor 80 degrees
95/120

I wish I had tried the Class 3 target instead as this Class 2 is more difficult than I thought it would be. Those side sticks of dynamite have a very small horizontal area to fit in. I shot 4 targets with Tac 22 and this old Midas M, but the best I could do was 95 out of 120. Now I know why so few of these are being posted this month.

That is some very fine shooting by all. I had to try the CIII Irons, but definitely needed a little help seeing those guys, once I got the ends darkened up I was just able to see them, then to pick the right globe reticle (I guess that is what you call it) size.

RFC Alias: Raydar; First name: Ray;

Scope: N/A Iron sights: Yes
Rifle make: Winchester 52C Ammo: Federal 711B

Excuses: I wish I had my 20 year old eyes back!

I guess I'm going to need some tutelage on how to post the targets so the end up right and not laying on their side!

You did well Ralph and Ray... :bthumb: :bthumb:

That's another "harder-than-it-looks" target.

RFC Alias: Norwegianrimfire, First name: Øystein
Score w/ bonus: C2 90/120 and C3 80/120,Class: C2 and C3,
Scope: Vortex 4-16x50 @12 and @16,
Rifle make: CZ 452, Ammo: Old RWS Target grade
Weather conditions: Sunny, 22C/72F, Light wind.

This old RWS ammo is starting to go bad. High and low hits, some go high speed and some have very low report :( Plinker or C1 ammo I think.

Good job Øystein... :bthumb: :bthumb:

This will have to go with the gnomes as one of the harder targets to hit!

More nice targets guys. :bthumb:

Really want to try some C-3 scoped, but to hot and humid lately to get out there.

Nice cheap ammo groups in the CZ section Stan. :bthumb: Sometimes some of the cheap stuff shines in a particular gun.

The most of my cheap ammo dates from the great ammo shortage of 2008 :)

Hay Øystein, I thought of you while taking pictures this morning...

Got out and shot the scoped ll with my Marlin 60 , hot very humid and sticky with a slight breeze to 5 mph,, Shot five targets this ones the best, not to bad with cheep Ammo and gun,:bthumb:

Scoped ll, 90/120
PJ / John
Marlin 60,
Weaver / Kaspa , 3-12/44,,on 12
Eley Action

It was crazy but about a hr into shooting I caught movement behind my target, it was a deer walking through , with all that noise..,, only about ten ft behind the target at 50 yards, I had just been there hanging a green monster ,🎯..

I'm too far behind to catch up with who shot what, but it looks like a lot of good shooting is going on this month. I think those little sticks of dynamite were intended to make things hard! There isn't much room for error there.

I'm hoping to get things sorted out to shoot some rifle on the irons, hopefully before the end of the month.

Couldn't agree more, John. I lost count of how many times I have tried and also can't seem to break through the 95! (I don't even want to think about some of my lower scores .. LOL)
