It's May!

May Day - Cinco de Mayo - Mother's Day

Hmm, take your mom out shooting some Aguila ammo??

**(( Just for this month all targets shot with ANY FLAVOR of Aguila ammo will receive a 10 point bonus! ))**

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Ray and Lee, good shooting gentlemen... :bthumb: :bthumb:

Ray, I like that shooting tunnel...

Lee, looks like your getting back to your old self.. Especially with that Kimber target :)

It's good to see that the iron sighted rifles are making a name for themselves.

Thank you Jack, temps were warm, a lot of wind and a lot of distortion in the atmosphere. Was a tough day at the range. I spent a couple of hours trying to get the 100 yard match shot but the wind and visability won. The next two weekends are egg shoots and I need to get some bench time prior to if I have any intent on placing well.

I owe some change on that $1.20....

Had my targets printed, gear ready, soon to head out and be the first on the 1st.... then Øystein posted just as I logged out to head to the range.

But the early bird gets the worm! Good shooting Øystein, and glad to see the weather is breaking for you.

Hank is already knocking out some scoped targets as well, and Ray and Lee with the irons. Some good shooting all around.

As for that C2 irons target Lee.... for me I think it's a nope, nope, and nope. I took the green version one day trying to figure out my globe inserts, and could hardly see the targets, much less think about drawing a decent sight picture on them, The C3 irons looks tough too, close spacing makes it hard.... at least for me. I might try to make a run on one regardless, maybe use a post if I have to.

As for me, some dimes whooped me today.

Got a break from any nearby boomers for practice and sighters, then a couple jumped in when I started shooting the fun target. Such is life at a busy indoor range.

I did shoot better on the mini monster RFC target, like the C2 irons used this month. Altered my rest setup trying to get more stability on a small rest area. I might shoot the dimes again this month.... without nearby boomers I think the rest mods helped.

Including a photo of the current rest setup. The tables we have are only 15" deep, so no room for any decent real solid rest. Even with this short rifle, it's a challenge to get solid. The butt end is supported with my hands and shoulder only, though now that I lowered it I can at least have a hand on the foam. As set up is the limits of how far I can move the blocks away from each other. I might see if I can improvise a bag setup for the rear.

I didn't have any Aguila to shoot, however, we do have some agave tequila on hand at the house. That should be worth some points, or at least comfort me when I barely get half points on a target!

Thanks Stan! Only 4 bulls on Class I. I changed my Class II score to 0X. I think I scored it wrong at 1X.

Good shooting Jack... :bthumb: :bthumb:

As for the class 1 irons target, that was supposed to be a different target.. (must have been the ammo). I've made corrections to the scoring only.

It gives our old eyes a break :)
