April showers bring May flowers, so it's said.

I've had enough already of the rain - I've got targets to shoot!

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Cow!.......how could you bring up possibly shooting a Styrofoam cup target this month without consulting me on how to place the stick-on targets, how to best shoot it, and then the less than obvious way to score the results?

I'm simply aghast.:)

Smooth
LOL!!

Could have used a smaller cup, that's a 16oz. 8oz would be just right.
You make do with what you have...

We missed you.. Gonna set the bar for this month?

Nice shooting, Stan and I have to agree that is an absolutely gorgeous rifle!
Thenk kew, thenk kew..

Brno Model 4 Biathlon, 1957.

Only 100 (or so) made. I'm extremely fortunate to be the caretaker for now.

It shoots good, has never had a scope mounted on it.

Thanks Stan.
I found I was getting a little shaky by the end of a session with a bipod and rear bag. (Guess it comes with old age .. LOL) This is much more relaxing and my hand doesn't get cramped trying to squeeze the rear bag to get on target.

Thanks Lee.
I haven't weighed the rifle but from looking up the weight of each component, it should be just at 10 pounds. You may not be able to see in the image but I fabricated a 3" wide delrin bag rider and attached it to the chassis. With the wide legs the mini is rock solid and the rifle seems to ride it well. I was actually a little surprised that the minimal recoil of a 22 would still slide on the rest but seems to be doing what it is supposed to do. I will probably replace the supplied bag with one designed for the benchrest rules, after I get a little more time playing with it. As supplied, it is a little tight to cover heavy guns and I will play with some of the joystick adjustments before my next time out. At 25 yards, the joystick travel is just under the range needed to cover the entire target so one adjustment is needed. (Haven't tried it at longer ranges but it should easily cover the target with just the initial setup.) I am really impressed with the quality of the rest and happy that I no longer need to squeeze a rear bag causing cramping in my hand. (A touch of arthritis doesn't help.)

Some good shooting already from John, Stan, Robert, and Bradley. Good to see the irons coming out, and I take back what I said about maxing the C3 scoped now that I see Roberts targets. Those bulls looked a lot bigger on the screen.

I've been playing with inserts on the Remington, and I'm determined to get things sorted out so I can shoot some good scores on irons. If I can get targets to look like those Stan and Bradley posted, I'll be more than happy. But at this point, if I can just max score on the C2 irons it will be a goal met for now.

Some fine shooting there Bradley... :bthumb:

Do you use a round insert or a post?

I use round, have had good luck. Not so much on the post.
